CXC 40th Anniversary Visual Arts Exhibition

The Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) will host its second 40th Anniversary Visual Arts exhibition at the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts starting on Monday 14 October with a formal opening ceremony.

The Visual Arts exhibition will run from Monday 14 to Friday 18 October, from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm. Read more on

No Jobs For Grads - Experts Predict Almost 20,000 Youths Leaving School Won't Find Employment

Nearly half of the more than 40,000 young people who graduate high schools and universities this year may not find employment in the private sector, two stakeholder groups have predicted.

The forecast by the Jamaica Employers' Federation (JEF) and the Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica (PSOJ) comes as the economy continues its decline for a sixth consecutive quarter.

"Most employers are either not hiring or not replacing people who are leaving," JEF President David Wan puts it simply. Read more on Jamaica Gleaner.

CXC Appoints New Senior Assistant Registrar

The Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) announces the appointment of Dr Charles Mayenga of Kenya, as the Senior Assistant Registrar for the Examinations Development and Production Division (EDPD) with effect from Monday 2 September.

Dr Mayenga replaces Dr Gordon Harewood, a Guyanese national, who retired at the end of April 2013 after a long and distinguished career with CXC.

Dr Mayenga is eminently qualified to take up his post at CXC and brings a wealth of professional experience to the job.

He holds a PhD in Educational Measurement and Evaluation from the University of Toronto, Canada; a Masters in Educational Psychology (M.Ed.) from the University of Manitoba and an honours Bachelor’s degree in Education (B.Ed.) from Nairobi University, Kenya. Read more on
